Hyper is a powerful VTubing app that lets you post for your followers, livestream to your audience, and record footage for TikTok or YouTube. You can also stream directly to Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and more within the app using a stream key that can be found in the app Settings under Profile. But if you want to use Hyper to stream gameplay footage with your layered avatar video or use your avatar for Discord or Zoom calls, here’s a way to achieve this and much more by configuring Hyper with OBS using no additional equipment!
OBS is an open streaming software that allows VTubers to send video data to external video-sharing apps such as YouTube or Twitch and even video-calling apps like Zoom or Discord. While we only talk about the process of setting up OBS with Hyper, the steps are generally the same for most streaming software.
This guide focuses on the process of setting up screen mirroring for Microsoft Windows users because macOS users can simply can natively select the iPhone as an OBS video input source once it’s plugged in via USB. Alternatively, if you have a capture card, you could also opt to use that instead. You can find our guide Livestreaming with Avatars on OBS for VTubers for more information on setting up OBS with Hyper using a capture card and some accessories for both Windows and macOS.
In this guide we will be using AirServer, a screen mirroring tool for Windows. We recommend using AirServer because it allows for a 30-day free trial without a watermark. We also have our own solution coming soon, so stay tuned for more updates on our Discord!
